Studies are beginning to show concern from patients on the use of technology in regards to diagnosing patients. Patients trust doctors more who use less technology and feel that diagnosis without aid is more personalized and reliable.

Let us tenderly and kindly cherish, therefore, the means of knowledge. Let us dare to read, think, speak, and write.

I think using the CDSS's is an extremely beneficial tool for diagnostics, etc as an additional asset for the doctors but it should not take over personal care. Patients trust and rely on their doctors and CDSS's should not take away from that.

I understand why people in the older generation would be opposed to this, but I think it is a great idea. Wouldn't you prefer information coming from a database full of similar cases and multiple doctors opinions to one sole doctor?

I think that doctors do know a lot about their patients. However, I believe using technology as a back up can help these doctors prevent error. It is important to have more than one perspective on something.

Doctors can see what is wrong with the person where as tech has to be told what is wronf and then say what the patient has

Technology should not be replacing a doctor's duties, it should enhance them. Patients whose doctors use DSS are hopefully able to trust that their doctor will use his or her own judgement to assess the accuracy of the software.

On one hand, decision support systems can hinder the personal relationship a doctor shares with his patient. On the other hand, it can reduce error in medical procedures and diagnoses. In the end, however, the comfort of the patient should be top priority

I completely agree and trust that doctors do know more than technology. Doctors know their patients, and that is more important. It is more comfortable being in the hands of a doctor than technology.

People are more comfortable in personal situations when they know that their doctor is in control and not dependent on technology. It is important, though, to educate people about the pros of CDSS because it does help reduce the risk of error.

A doctor knows a patient more than a software programs. I think that every illness is different in every person so a computer software program cannot be the judge of anything. It is interesting though that this could help eliminate error amongst doctors.
