Mercedes-Benz is now introducing the new CLA-class. This car will be starting at 30,000 dollars, which is the cheapest of any Mercedes car. This will allow new people who never thought they can afford a Mercedes, to have a luxury car of their own.

The reputation of Mercedes can be ruined or deteriorated with the introduction of a lower costing car. Mercedes is known as a luxurious car, the more of them there are on the street the value of the brand goes down.

This is a great idea for the younger generation of people who are still on tight budgets, however, I believe it will diminish the name and value of Mercedes. Most people buy a Mercedes to have a luxury car, and now Mercedes may not seem as luxurious.

I think it is a great idea for Mercedes to make a more affordable line of cars. Not only will it potentially open up a class of cars that is more affordable, but will also allow people who could not afford other classes of Mercedes to potentially buy one

More families will be able to afford the cheaper model which initially is great, but other hidden costs come in as well through time with Mercedes models having extremely expensive replacement parts and relatively expensive labor costs.

As Ldmizzell mentioned earlier Mercedes' vehicles usually require above-average maintenance and owners are required to purchase Mercedes parts and labor, which may be too expensive for the buyers

I think it is a great idea that Mercedes is introducing a lower priced car. This will greatly increase the chances of consumers upgrading to a higher model after being exposed to a luxury car, further increasing revenue for the company.

Lowering the price of Mercedes is a great idea because more families can afford it even though the equipment to build the car is expensive. It’s a win, win situation for Mercedes.

Bringing a lower priced car to the Mercedes family, will get more people to buy, but the point of having a Mercedes is for luxury. Buying a cheaper one will make people buy it just for the name. It's good for Mercedes sales.

I think that lowering the price is a very strategic move for Mercedes, however, I feel that in order to do this, the quality of the car will diminish.

I really don't think that making a $30,000 car is going to change much. That's still a bit pricey for a car especially if you compare it to Nissan, Toyota and Mazda where you can get brand new cars for less than $20,000.

By lowering the price, Mercedes are obviously going to have to leave out the features that make the car so expensive; they are devaluing their product. Also, by lowering their prices, they are opening up their market to a new, probably less savvy consumer

I'm surprised Mercedes didn't make this move earlier since BMW has been in the affordable car market with its 1-series for a few years. They will both be in competition with rapidly developing Japanese and American affordable luxury vehicles.

I think that this is a step in the right direction for Mercedes. It is great that they are coming out with a lower priced, more affordable car that still has the same luxuries and perks. This is a great strategic move for Mercedes.

I find it amazing that a high end car company would finally make a more affordable car that has the same luxury features as the cars that run up to $90,000.

With all of the maintenance that Mercedes needs on its cars on a weekly/monthly basis, will it cost the average buyer more than they can really afford? I think this is a good step for Mercedes but just not at the right time.

I think it's great that Mercedes is going in this direction with one of their new car models. Significantly lowering the price opens the door for a new group of people to buy a mercedes, which will serve well for the brand of the car.
