The demand for tablets has been increasing and will continue to increase until they ultimately push PCs out of the market. Now-a-days, there isn't really any competition between tablets and PCs because of all the tablet has to offer, such as apps.

the future is having everything on the go, I think in time these issues of a physical keyboard will become obsolete. People will learn to type without the aid of a keyboard or hopefully the technology for a virtual keyboard will come along.

You make a good point, but eventually wireless keyboards and soon programs like Microsoft Office will make their way to tablets. Its only a matter of time.

I think the main reason tablets are having higher sales is because they are new. Tablets are mobile and easy to use, but you can't really use it to do certain things (try typing a paper on those small touch screens). People still need laptops and PCs.
